Single Spin Silicon Can Shift Metal Oxide

Nano technology currently have developed in many application like on the computer technology. A silicon based a nano-scale system which aims to harness the spin of electron to boost the processing power. This project has funding with about £1M from Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) that want to build the world’s first silicon based integrated single spin quantum bit system.

The benefit of using this nanoscale circuits that could use the spin of the individual electrons to transmit, store and process information. Such device could enhance the scaling of functional density and performance while simultaneously reducing the energy dissipated per functional operation.

This research hope will shift in information and communication technology, not just an extension of existing silicon technology, this will make it possible for industry to continue on using silicon as devices but get smaller. An integrated single spin information processing technology will provide a unique solution to massively parallel and highly secure information processing technology in the beyond CMOS (Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor) era.
